Theresa Drew
Director at Sonoco Products Company and The Cato Corporation; Retired Managing Partner at Deloitte Carolinas Practice
Theresa Drew is an accomplished leader, experienced corporate director, and financial expert with over 47 years of diverse management, executive leadership, and governance experience. During her career with Deloitte, she was a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, corporate boards and audit committees across a wide range of companies, with expertise in the manufacturing, retail, and consumer products industries. She is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and qualifies as an audit committee financial expert under the SEC ’s rules.
Since 2018, Theresa has served on the Board of Directors of Sonoco Products Company (NYSE: SON), a Fortune 500 global designer, developer, and manufacturer of highly engineered and sustainable packaging, with annual revenue of approximately $8 billion. She is the Chair of the Audit Committee, as well as a member of the Financial Policy Committee. In 2019, she joined the Board of Directors of The Cato Corporation (NYSE: CATO), an apparel and accessories retailer with over 1,000 locations and is the Chair of the Audit Committee.
Theresa was Deloitte’s Managing Partner for the Carolinas Practice from 2011 until her retirement in 2019, where she oversaw the growth of the practice from 600 to nearly 2,000 professionals. She was responsible for the strategic direction of Deloitte’s efforts and activities across North and South Carolina. Theresa began her career in 1979 with Deloitte in Phoenix and in 1991, she was the first female promoted to partner in that office. Subsequently, she served in leadership roles in Phoenix and San Diego.
As a community leader, Theresa has 35 years of governance experience having served on over 25 prominent boards of nonprofit organizations in Charlotte, San Diego, and Phoenix. Theresa is the Past-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Carolinas Chapter of NACD, and a member of International Women’s Forum and Women Executives of Charlotte. She is also a member of the AICPA and the NCACPA.
During Theresa’s 47-year career, she has received numerous national and regional recognitions. Most recently, Women INC. designated Theresa as one of its 2019 Most Influential Corporate Board Directors. She was also recognized by Queens University as the 2017 Charlotte BusinessWoman of the Year and by the Charlotte Business Journal as a Most Admired CEO. Theresa graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Accountancy.
