John has been involved with Future 5, a nonprofit that connects motivated, under-resourced students in Stamford to the people and resources they need to achieve their educational, career and life goals, through a number of board roles over the past decade.  He was elected Chairman of the board in September of 2025.  In addition to Future 5, John participated for several years on both the board and the executive committee of The Institutes a nonprofit focused on education for the insurance industry.

John is soon to be retiring from his role as Group Chief Underwriting Officer of Aspen Holdings.  Previously, he held a number of executive positions in the US and Ireland for AXA XL.  He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds a BS in mathematics from Fairfield University.  He currently resides in Stamford with his wife Monica.
