Elaine Batchlor, MD, MPH

Elaine Batchlor, MD, MPH, is the Chief Executive Officer of MLK Community Hospital, a health system serving 1.3 million residents in the medically underserved community of South Los Angeles. A member of the National Academy of Medicine and a rheumatologist by training, Dr. Batchlor has devoted her career to expanding healthcare access and improving quality for vulnerable populations. She brings first-hand insight into the barriers that drive inequities in care. Her insights have been featured in leading national publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal, reflecting her expertise at the intersection of policy, finance and patient care.
Dr. Batchlor is a Regent of the University of California. Her leadership additionally includes the boards of the California Hospital Association, the Hospital Association of Southern California, where she serves as chair, and the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board. She is a graduate of Harvard University, Case Western Reserve University, and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
