Seasoned public service, energy and governance leader to guide chapter’s continued growth
June 25, 2026 – East Brunswick, New Jersey – The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) New Jersey Chapter today announced the election of Richard S. Mroz as chair of its board of directors, effective June 12. Mroz succeeds Jeannie Diefenderfer and will lead the chapter as it continues to advance its mission of empowering New Jersey directors and their boards to drive stakeholder value through high-quality education, exchange and engagement.
“Richard brings a remarkable combination of public service, regulatory leadership, governance expertise and strategic insight,” says Judy Reinsdorf, chair of the nominating and governance committee of NACD New Jersey. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to responsible leadership, sound oversight and strengthening institutions. We are delighted to welcome him as chair and look forward to the perspective and energy he will bring to our chapter.”

Richard Mroz’s career
Mroz has a distinguished career spanning law, government, public service and corporate governance. He is senior director of Archer Public Affairs; he advises clients in the energy, utilities, infrastructure and financial services sectors. He also serves as senior adviser to Protect Our Power, a national nonprofit organization focused on strengthening cybersecurity and resilience across the energy and critical infrastructure sectors.
Mroz previously served as president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, where he functioned as New Jersey’s chief energy officer and led the state’s utility regulatory agency. Within the U.S. Department of Energy, he has served on the electricity advisory committee and contributed to the subcommittees on smart grid development and defense critical infrastructure. Mroz’s governance experience also includes long-standing service on the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York board of directors, where he chaired the housing committee and previously served as chair of the government and regulatory affairs committee. He currently serves on the advisory board of ClearPath, a national advocacy organization supporting American innovation in energy technology and manufacturing, and on the advisory board of Princeton NuEnergy, a critical minerals and battery recycling company.
Earlier in his career, Mroz served as chief counsel to former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, a commissioner of the Delaware River and Bay Authority, and counsel to the New Jersey Conference of Mayors. Notably, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to the Commission on White House Fellowships. Mroz is a graduate of the University of Delaware and earned his Juris Doctor from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
