About The Event
The Aspiring Public Company Director full-day program was designed for individuals who currently sit on large nonprofit boards or private corporate boards and/or are C-Suite leaders who wish to take the next step toward securing a public company board seat. Public company directors and industry experts led the discussions. It was held at the Boston KPMG offices on April 16, 2025.

7:30-8:25AM: Corporate Governance: Public board governance requirements, Board and committee structures, Functions, and Responsibilities; Ethics and compliance programs; Setting the tone at the top; Strategy and the role of the board.
8:25-9:20AM: Legal: Fiduciary duties and regulatory responsibilities of a public company board director; includes basic regulations (FD, insider trading, etc.) and D&O insurance and why needed.
9:20-10:15AM: Finance: Questions every board director should be asking.
10:15-10:35AM: Break
10:35-11:30AM: Shareholder Relations: ISS/Glass Lewis, activists.
11:30-12:30PM: Hot Topics in the Boardroom. Panel discussion.
12:30-1:00PM: Lunch and Networking

2:10-3:00PM: Toolkit & Blueprint and Table Exercise

4:10-5:15PM: Hear from two Experienced Directors. Lessons Learned from the Boardroom. Conversation will be focused on the directors’ public company board experience. Q&A session about public company board service.
