Artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and cybersecurity—soon to be joined by quantum—are not information technology projects. They, and other technology strategies, are core drivers of business innovation and growth as well as enterprise business risks. Does your board have the knowledge and experience to provide meaningful oversight?
Surveys consistently cite technology and AI as challenges for boards. Yet few boards have added directors with the operational technology expertise of a chief information officer, chief technology officer, or chief information security officer.
For some company boards, technology literacy is sufficient. For others, the critical role of technology in the business may demand expertise.
This panel discusses a framework for assessing the criticality of technology to your business, your board’s level of expertise, and how well they align. Panelists will also discuss potential actions to address gaps.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Apply a framework to assess your board’s technology expertise against your business’s technology criticality
• Lead a candid boardroom discussion on whether current expertise meets your board’s oversight responsibility
• Identify appropriate responses for closing gaps through education, advisors, restructuring, or recruitment
