Healthy economies and thriving communities depend on institutions that are well governed, well led, and connected. Corporate, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations each play a vital role in creating economic opportunity, bolstering public confidence, and improving quality of life.

In this context, the role of the board is evolving—and the ability to apply board governance expertise in real-world, mission-driven environments has never been more important.

The NACD Minnesota Nonprofit Board Lab is designed to move beyond theory and into practice. Through a hands-on, immersive experience, participants will engage directly with nonprofit leaders to address real board governance challenges and strengthen board effectiveness in organizations where impact and resources must be carefully balanced.

Guided by executives and board governance leaders, participants will work in small groups to explore crucial board-level issues, apply proven frameworks, and develop actionable recommendations that support both organizational performance and mission success.

This dynamic lab experience will bring board governance to life, offering unique insights on:

• Balancing mission, accountability, and decision-making in a complex and changing environment
• Overseeing risk and resources to support long-term sustainability and organizational resilience
• Preparing for the future of technology, talent, access, and equity
