Director

David Nicol is an accomplished independent board director and C-suite executive with over 30 years of experience leading and transforming technology companies. He has guided companies through critical transitions, including implementing new technologies, IPOs, acquisitions, mergers, and asset sales. As a designated SEC audit committee financial expert, with NACD Directorship Certification and CERT-certified in cybersecurity oversight, David brings this expertise to the boardroom and has a proven track record of driving growth, executing turnarounds, and maximizing shareholder value.

In his recent board roles, David helped three technology-focused companies complete the sale of their operating assets:  SeaChange International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEAC; free ad-supported TV streaming services), where he chaired the audit committee and served on the nominating/governance committee; Current Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR; computing and parallel processing systems), where he chaired the audit committee; and Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVOL; real-time digital entertainment solutions and services for mobile carriers), where he chaired the audit and compensation committees. He continues to serve on all three boards (respectively now known as Tiber Ventures, CCUR Holdings and Symbolic Logic) while the companies seek to acquire operating companies. He has also served on the board of Nanoveu Limited (ASX: NVU, nanotechnology) and continues to serve on the board of PropertyTrak, LLC (computerized maintenance management systems and services).

David’s executive experience spans a wide variety of technology domains. As an Independent Director, and later President and COO, of Strongwatch Corporation, David transformed the market focus of this innovative multi-spectral imaging surveillance systems developer. As EVP and CFO of Solutionary, an IT managed security services provider (MSSP), he drove the turnaround, achieving EBITDA positive within 24 months through strategic acquisitions and operational efficiencies. At Sipera Systems, he transformed the VOIP security software start-up by reconceiving the product and market strategy, subsequently raising $6.3M in Series A funds. All three companies were later acquired.

At Illuminet/ITN, David created the business model that grew revenue over five years from $38M to $192M and operating income from $2.8M to $60M. He played an integral role in the company's successful IPO and eventual acquisition by Verisign for $1.2B. He stayed on with Verisign to manage the $300M division, achieving 10% revenue growth in his last year and a 33% operating margin. He also led Verisign’s acquisition of Embratel's carrier services division, expanding the company's presence in Latin America. His experience also includes executive leadership roles at International Micronet Systems and ILAN, Inc., where as EVP/COO he helped drive significant revenue growth in these LAN/WAN systems services companies, both of which were subsequently acquired.

David has a Ph.D. in Industrial Economics and Corporate Finance from Case Western Reserve University, an MA in Business Economics from Case Institute of Technology, and a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Ohio State University (named Outstanding Freshman Engineer).
