About The Event
We were thrilled to host Kimberly Bishop, CO-CEO of Kinetic Leaders, for an insightful session on how board recruitment is evolving in response to today’s complex challenges. Participants gained valuable perspectives on the shifting priorities of nominating and governance committees, including the increasing emphasis on strategic capabilities, global experience, and risk fluency in an era marked by economic uncertainty and geopolitical instability.
Kimberly highlighted the critical role boards play in overseeing disruptive technologies, stressing the need for directors to move beyond technical literacy toward strategic fluency in areas like AI, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. She also emphasized the growing importance of judgment, agility, and culture fit as mission-critical qualities for the ideal director.
Throughout the discussion, attendees explored how board placements are increasingly tied to a company’s strategic direction and values, underscoring the need for intentional, future-focused succession planning. The conversation closed with a forward-looking challenge: What questions should nominating committees be asking today to prepare their boards for 2030 and beyond?
Thank you to Scoular for hosting us and to all who joined us for this forward-thinking conversation. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and supporting effective, strategic board leadership in the Heartland.
