Wayne Peacock

Former CEO and President, USAA; Vice Chair, Elizabeth Dole Foundation

Wayne Peacock is the Vice Chair of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, the leading voice for veteran and military caregivers. Founded in 2011, EDF delivers programs and advocates for military care givers to ensure every care giver can thrive. He is an advisory Board member of the Fuqua/Coach K Center on Leadership and Ethics at Duke University and cochair of the NACD 2025 Blue Ribbon Commission on Corporate Governance.

Wayne previously served as the president and chief executive officer of USAA. Founded in 1922 as an insurance association serving military families, USAA is one of America’s leading financial services companies, offering insurance, banking, and investments and retirement solutions to its 14 million members. The company is headquartered in San Antonio, TX with offices in the U.S. and Europe, and owns more than $200 billion in assets. USAA ranked 103rd on the 2024 Fortune 500® list and 23rd on the Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies list. USAA was recognized on the 2024 VETS Indexes Employer Awards as 5-star Employer and a Military Friendly® Employer every year since the list’s inception. USAA is a leader in advocating for the military community and in 2023, Wayne championed USAA’s launch of Face the Fight™, a social-impact initiative committed to veteran suicide prevention.

Wayne served at USAA for 36 years, joining the association in 1988 in its real estate investment subsidiary. He has served in numerous leadership roles and has been a member of the Executive Council since 2006. Prior to becoming CEO in February 2020, he was President of USAA’s Property and Casualty Insurance Group, the fifth-largest auto insurance carrier in the US. Earlier assignments include Technology, Marketing, Strategy, and Sales and Service.

Previous board service includes USAA, the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, The Institutes, Insurance Information Institute, San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, and Alamo Council BSA. He has held membership in the Business Roundtable and the CNBC CEO Council and is a NACD Governance Fellow. 

Wayne graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and has completed executive education programs at Duke, Harvard, Stanford and Wharton.

He and his wife Ginny have four adult children and two grandchildren.
