Matt Oppenheimer is the cofounder and CEO of Remitly, a leading digital-financial-services provider for immigrants and their families in over 170 countries. Remitly’s vision is to transform the lives of millions of immigrants and their families by providing the most trusted financial services in the world. Oppenheimer has lived and worked on three continents and traveled to nearly 100 countries. Prior to cofounding Remitly, Oppenheimer lived in Kenya where he worked on mobile and internet banking initiatives for Barclays Bank Kenya. While living abroad, he experienced firsthand how painful it could be to send money across borders and witnessed how far that money could go once it made it home. Oppenheimer received the 2022 Customer Service CEO of the Year as part of the Customer Service Institute of America’s International Service Excellence Awards. He was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 in the Pacific Northwest and has been recognized as a Puget Sound Business Journal “40 Under 40” honoree for his work with Remitly. Oppenheimer has also served on the board of directors of BECU since 2018.
