Matisse is a Partner in Cherry Bekaert’s Risk Advisory practice, bringing more than 25 years of experience supporting public and private companies across risk management, internal audit and regulatory compliance. He has a wealth of leadership experience helping organizations strengthen governance, enhance internal controls and navigate complex financial and operational environments. Prior to joining Cherry Bekaert, Matisse held senior executive accounting leadership roles within a publicly traded transportation and logistics company, where he oversaw corporate accounting, SEC reporting, internal audit and enterprise risk management. He partnered closely with executive leadership, boards and audit committees and led initiatives spanning Sarbanes‐Oxley compliance, mergers and acquisitions and large‐scale system implementations. Earlier in his career, Matisse co‐founded and helped scale an advisory services firm focused on Sarbanes‐Oxley compliance, internal audit and process improvement, later acquired by a top 100 accounting firm. He began his career in public accounting, including experience with a Big Four firm, and continues to focus on helping organizations design practical, scalable risk and control frameworks that support growth and transparency.
