Leslie McNamara

Vice Chair, Board of Trustees, Chair, Governance & Nominating Committee, Thomas Jefferson University

Leslie McNamara serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson University and Chair of its Governance & Nominating Committee, where she plays a central role in stewarding strong governance and board effectiveness across the Jefferson enterprise.  In these roles, she has been deeply engaged as Jefferson – an $18 billion, top-15 nonprofit health system – has pursued strategic growth in uniting healthcare, education, and government insurance programs to improve lives across Pennsylvania and New Jersey through innovation, compassion, and impact.  She also led Jefferson’s 2022 CEO search and has reshaped Board composition to be more skills‑based and reflective of the diverse communities Jefferson serves.

Previously a Managing Director at Citi, Leslie built deep expertise in consumer payments and lending, forging partnerships between major retailers and financial institutions to create specialized financing products.  She has worked closely with C‑suite leaders across iconic U.S. brands including The Home Depot, Macy’s, Best Buy, Wayfair, and Brooks Brothers.

Across both Jefferson and Citi, Leslie has been recognized for her ability to build strong, customer‑centric businesses.  Her financial acumen, disciplined approach to business management, and willingness to provide effective challenge have consistently driven growth, margin expansion, and bottom‑line performance.

Her enduring passion is ensuring that corporate assets advance not only shareholder value but societal progress—expanding access to capital, delivering compassionate and unbiased healthcare, and creating equitable pathways for employment and career development.

Leslie is a three‑time honoree on PaymentSource’s Most Influential Women in Payments list, a member of NYC’s YWCA Academy of Women Leaders, and a recipient of Delaware Today’s Women Leaders award.
