John J. Stephens brings decades of expertise in finance and leadership to Communities Foundation of Texas board. At AT&T, John was responsible for financial planning, corporate development, accounting, tax, auditing, treasury, investor relations and corporate real estate. He previously was senior vice president and controller for AT&T while also serving as chief financial officer for the company’s diversified services business unit. Prior to serving as controller, John oversaw all corporate tax matters as vice president-taxes, and he previously was managing director-taxes, where he had similar corporate tax responsibilities. John joined AT&T as director-federal taxes in St. Louis in 1992. John holds a B.S.B.A. in accounting from Rockhurst University in Kansas City and a J.D. from Saint Louis University’s Law School.
