John Gimigliano is the co-principal in charge of the Federal, Legislative, and Regulatory Services group for the KPMG Washington National Tax practice and a co-lead of the KPMG Tax Governance Institute. With more than 20 years of experience, he has represented clients in tax matters before Congress, the IRS, the Department of Treasury, and other federal agencies. Previously, Gimigliano was senior tax counsel for the Committee on Ways and Means and staff director for the Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures in the U.S. House of Representatives. His committee responsibilities focused on issues involving corporate taxation and he was also involved in the drafting, negotiation, and enactment of several pieces of tax legislation. Gimigliano has been a guest on Bloomberg Television, the Diane Rehm Show, and NPR’s Marketplace; has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post; and is host of the KPMG Catching Up on Capitol Hill podcast series. Gimigliano is an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches the course Taxation of Energy Markets. He is a board member of the NYU Institute on Federal Taxation as well as The Tax Council.
