John is General Partner and Fund Manager for Mairs & Power Venture Capital in St. Paul, MN. He has spent his entire career in the venture capital and entrepreneurial support world. Prior to joining Mairs & Power, John was a Partner with advisory firm RiverPoint Investments in St. Paul and prior to that time he was a Vice President and Investment Officer of Cherry Tree Ventures in Minneapolis. John has been involved with more than 50 companies as an investor and advisor and served as a member of the board of directors for more than 25 companies. Those companies, cumulatively, have raised hundreds of millions of dollars of equity financing. John has served on boards of companies who have conducted hundreds of strategic acquisitions, venture capital financings, private equity transactions, debt financings, and liquidity events through M&A transactions and initial public offerings. John is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, B.A. Economics, and the University of Minnesota, M.B.A. Finance. He is also a Certified Director awarded by the National Association of Corporate Directors. John is committed to the community and has served on the boards of nonprofit organizations, including Goodwill Minnesota, Twin Cities Habitat, Chicagoland Habitat, and NACD Minnesota.
