Jason Pizza, a partner of technical accounting consulting at RSM US LLP, focuses on transaction accounting and accounting advisory services. His primary areas of concentration are initial public offering readiness engagements, carve-out financial statements, fresh start accounting, restatements, separation assistance, purchase accounting, and technical accounting with regards to financial accounting standards, international financial reporting standards, and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
With more than 23 years of accounting and transaction advisory experience, Pizza has worked with several large and mid-market clients in preparing ventures to go public, the preparation and support of US generally accepted accounting principles and SEC-compliant financial statements as well as additional deal support and accounting issues including purchase accounting and opening balance sheet preparation, fresh start accounting, restatement services, audit, and financial reporting support and separation services.
Pizza has worked with clients across various industries in the United States as well as in several other countries across the globe, including retail, manufacturing, insurance, financial services, energy and oil and gas, hospitality, health care, aerospace and defense, real estate, and software and technology. Some of the clients Pizza previously served include the Ford Motor Co., General Motors, Publicis, the Sara Lee Corp., TXU Energy, Verizon Wireless, the Campbell's Soup Co., Fred's Retail and Pharmacy, Plains All American Pipeline, Transdigm, and Horizon Pharma.
Prior to joining RSM in January 2025, Pizza spent six years as a partner with a global accounting firm in Chicago, where he most recently served as the national managing partner for accounting advisory services. In addition, Pizza has served as a corporate controller and director of technical accounting for two large publicly traded companies as well as spent several years in both the transaction accounting and audit groups of a Big Four accounting firm.
He is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He has a master of business administration from the University of Notre Dame and a master of science in accounting from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
