James C. Lam is a board director, management consultant, and best-selling author. He is president of James Lam & Associates, a risk management consulting firm that serves clients across all industry sectors.

He currently serves as an independent director and risk committee chair of BlackRock iShares. He previously served on seven public and private boards, including E*TRADE Financial and E*TRADE Bank, where he chaired the risk oversight committee, and served on the audit committee.

Prior to board service, Lam was partner at Oliver Wyman and chief risk officer at Fidelity Investments and GE Capital. He is the author of Enterprise Risk Management (2003, 2nd edition 2014) and Implementing Enterprise Risk Management (2017).

James has been recognized by NACD (Directorship 100), Shared Assessments (Lifetime Achievement Award), Global Association of Risk Professionals (Risk Manager of the Year), and Treasury & Risk Management magazine (100 Most Influential People in Finance).
