Greg Cunningham is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Community Impact and Inclusion Officer for U.S. Bank and a member of the bank’s managing committee. He joined the bank in 2015 as Vice President of Customer Engagement, was promoted to Chief Diversity Officer in 2020 and added responsibilities for financial health and community engagement efforts in 2025. Greg also serves as Chairman of the U.S. Bank Foundation Board.
His expertise has been showcased in national and regional media outlets, including Fortune, Bloomberg, USA Today, American Banker, Harvard Business Review, the Economist, Fast Company, Money 20/20 and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. A recent profile of Greg in USA Today received a national journalism award. Ebony Magazine included Greg on its Power 100 list, and Greg was named a “Person of the Year” in 2020 by Twin Cities Business Magazine. He served as co-host of the U.S. Bank podcast titled “Real Good” which was streamed over three million times; and Greg was an Executive Producer on the film “Translators” which won Tribeca X’s Best Short Film Award at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival and in 2024 received creative and advertising recognition winning a Clio, Effie, and Gold recognition at the Cannes Lion Awards in France. His innovative approach to sponsorships led to an award-winning partnership with the New York Times in 2024 honoring the 100-year anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance.
Greg spent the previous 16 years at Target Corporation where he most recently led Lifestyle Marketing. He helped grow Target’s business and drove brand differentiation through cultural leadership. A few wins under Greg’s guidance include leading the marketing efforts for Target’s first entry into Manhattan, building multicultural expertise, and leading sports marketing for the organization.
Greg’s leadership vision states: “the first lesson in leadership is it’s not about you; it’s about your team.” Colleagues call him a respected bridge builder and visionary.
His non-work engagements reflect his worldview. Greg serves on the National Board of Directors for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) the nation’s largest and most effective minority higher education organization. He also serves as Advisor Commerce Ventures, an early-stage Private Equity firm located in San Francisco.
Greg has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from UNCF member school Clark-Atlanta University and an MBA from Fordham University in New York City. He is a Pittsburgh native whose interests include enjoying live entertainment, dinner parties, sporting events, exercise, old Hollywood movies, urban living, Netflix and jammin’ to his vinyl collection on the weekends.
Greg chooses to spend as much time as possible with his amazing wife Jacqueline Lloyd Cunningham and their two young adult kids, Myles and Whitney.
