Garfield Bowen serves as the Board Chairman, Children’s Minnesota; and the Founder & CEO of TransformWorks LLC and a Transformation Consultant for Delta Dental of Minnesota. He is a seasoned global executive and servant leader with deep expertise in operational excellence, organizational transformation, and public-private engagement. He brings a distinguished record of multidisciplinary leadership over his professional experience where he has leveraged AI as a key enabler to deliver business results.

A former executive at 3M, Bowen held multiple senior roles of increasing responsibility during his tenure, including Vice President of Government Affairs, Policy & Community Engagement, and Vice President of Social & Environmental Justice. In these roles, he partnered closely with policy makers, community stakeholders, and industry organizations to advance equitable outcomes, strengthen social impact, build political capital and support sustainable business practices.

Earlier in his career at 3M, he led global commercialization, R&D operations, and enterprise project management initiatives, as well as served as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Quality Leader.

Prior to joining 3M, Bowen spent over a decade in the information technology sector, serving in positions ranging from software engineering to Associate Chief Information Officer. His background reflects a balance of technical depth, strategic execution, and people-centered leadership.

Bowen holds a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of the West Indies and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Technology, Jamaica. He has completed executive education programs at Harvard Business School and Columbia Business School and holds professional credentials including Project Management Professional (PMP), Scrum Master, and Quality & Organizational Excellence Leader.

A passionate advocate for his community, Bowen currently serves as Chair of Children’s Minnesota governance board as well as his local church board. He has served on the 3M Foundation Board, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, and the Project Management Institute of Minnesota Boards.

Bowen is a native of Jamaica and resides in the Twin Cities with his wife, Mauvalyn, and their two sons.
