Darren Dasburg

CEO, Biologics

Working in his 43rd year in biopharma/technical operations spanning from the synthetic chemistry days of Glaxo to the biotech players MedImmune/AstraZeneca, Darren now enjoys the private life serving start-ups in Cell and Gene therapies and is currently an executive at Clarus Biologics.

He currently holds the role of CEO Clarus Biologics a developer of immunotherapies for cancer and vaccines following three other university start-ups two of which  reached exits in the exciting realm of genetics using CRISPR tech.

A Vice President of Manufacturing at AZ beginning in 2011, Darren was specifically aligned to deliver the Trusted Partner Network (TPN) relationship between Merck and MedImmune.  An innovative capacity sharing arrangement, the Trusted Partner Network built a fifteen year contract to support both firms in unique bio-manufacturing needs. He went to two biosimilar joint ventures in Korea and Japan concluding with the purchase of a 2 X 20K Liter biotech processing facility in Boulder CO and rebuilding that site while hiring 235 personnel.

Prior to MedImmune, Darren was a Founding Partner of Cinteger LLC providing executive management advice and consulting services drawing upon over twenty five years (at the time) of experience and research in the areas of construction, facilities operations, project engineering, service-provider outsourcing, real estate and business management. Darren’s rich experience in the regulation-intensive pharmaceutical and utility industries prepared him well for the disciplined approach to consulting he offered his clients.

Prior to those roles, Darren was an executive in Progress Energy and GlaxoSmithKline at the VP level leading organizations as large 1000 members.

Darren earned his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and completed his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at Colorado State University. He is also a graduate of the MIT Fermentation and Purification Executive series. Darren is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a Licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina. 

Darren also gives plenty of time to non-profit causes such as the Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh for the highly disabled, Campbell University advisory board for the Engineering School and University of MD masters program in biotechnology.
