

Bob Schellhas
Principal, Washington Council, EY
Bob Schellhas is a principal in EY’s Washington Council Ernst & Young practice. He provides monitoring, strategy, and advocacy services to corporate and trade association clients on a wide range of issues before Congress and the executive branch.
Previously, Schellhas was managing director and head of federal government affairs at Citigroup Inc. He also was vice president of federal relations for The American Council of Life Insurers, representing more than 400 domestic and global life insurance companies.
Schellhas has extensive political campaign and Capitol Hill experience. He served as chief of staff to Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), deputy chief of staff to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH), communications director and senior legislative assistant to House Ways and Means Committee Chair Dave Camp (R-MI), and special assistant to Congressman Bill Schuette (R-MI). In addition, Schellhas held senior roles in statewide and congressional campaigns in Florida, Iowa, Michigan, and New Mexico. He was coeditor of The New York Times and The Washington Post best-selling book Contract with America: The Bold Plan by Rep. Newt Gingrich, Rep. Dick Armey, and the House Republicans to Change the Nation.
Schellhas holds a bachelor of science in political science and economics from Central Michigan University. He and his family live in Northern Virginia.
