Avril Ussery Sisk, NACD.DC served on the board of a privately held information technology company where she supported B2G and B2B commerce, marketing, and sales through the development of private and public partnerships, developing government relationship strategies to drive significant revenue and a successful acquisition exit. She served on the Advisory Committee to develop NACD’s 2025 Master Class: Technology & Innovation and participated as a panelist on the topics of AI governance, AI, and technology regulatory issues. As a director, Avril frequently is invited to speak and continues to write about her experience regarding AI governance; she also brings expertise in risk management, accountability, and culture. She continues to explore the implications of AI governance and regulations on business, particularly regarding directors’ oversight and strategic responsibilities.
During Avril’s recent tenure as Chair of the Arlington County, Virginia, Economic Development Commission, the National Landing area of Arlington County became the first “smart city” in the United States through a public-private collaboration establishing new 5G digital infrastructure. An active leader, she worked collaboratively to draw more technology companies to the region, supporting the development of emerging technology industries and a top technology talent market.
