Alisa C. Norris is a Lead Independent Director and Committee Chair with a strong track record of guiding boards and executive teams through enterprise transformation, leadership transitions and long-term value creation across diverse capital and ownership structures. She brings distinctive multi-industry C-suite experience, with expertise in strategy, marketing, and human capital. As a board director, Alisa is known for translating ambitious strategic intent into best-practice governance processes and disciplined execution while strengthening trust, accountability and board effectiveness. Additionally, she offers strong insights to boards and leadership teams across strategy and brand evolution, customer experience and employee engagement, human capital and executive compensation-related matters, culture and change management, and risk management and crisis preparedness.
Among her current board roles, Alisa serves as Lead Independent Director of Standard Motor Products (NYSE: SMP), an industrial company in the automotive aftermarket. Additionally, Alisa is a board director at CP Direct, a private equity-backed printing company. She also serves on the board of Peterson Farms, a family-owned agricultural enterprise known for its progressive farming operations for the spirits industry. Her prior board experience includes serving as Lead Independent Director of Vita-Mix Corporation and as a director of Healthy Bytes, a venture-backed healthcare services company.
Alisa has far-reaching executive experience, leading multiple first-ever transformations of business strategy and operations. Her unique combination of Chief Marketing Officer and Chief People Officer roles enabled her to expertly integrate and elevate the customer and employee experiences. Alisa served as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer role at JDRF, a mission-driven organization with deep personal meaning for her. She dramatically improved top-line growth by deepening customer engagement and enabling targeted, scalable revenue generation through new digital channels. Previously, Alisa served as the first Chief Marketing Officer of RR Donnelley, a Fortune 250 company, where she helped modernize a 150-year-old brand with $11 billion in revenue. In that role, she supported the company’s 17 business lines and introduced new sales enablement strategies to strengthen the effectiveness of its sales organization.
Before RR Donnelley, Alisa served as Chief People Officer at a private equity-backed technology and predictive analytics company, Opera Solutions. Alisa came to Opera Solutions from Zeborg, a software company where she was a founding member of the executive team. In the first decade of her career, Alisa was a strategy consultant, earning her way to partner at Mitchell Madison Group. There, she drove transformational growth strategies across a diverse range of industries, leading globally dispersed teams.
As a first-generation American, Alisa has long been dedicated to volunteer service with organizations whose missions expand opportunity, foster upward mobility and create long lasting impact. Alisa received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She graduated from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), with honoraria including Phi Beta Kappa.
