As governance expectations rise and board responsibilities grow more complex, thoughtful board succession has become a strategic imperative. Effective succession planning ensures continuity, strengthens oversight, and positions boards to meet evolving stakeholder demands.
Please join NACD Northwest for a timely panel discussion focused on how boards can proactively plan for director and leadership transitions while aligning board composition with long-term strategy. This session will explore how boards assess future skill needs, cultivate diverse pipelines, manage leadership changes, and balance refreshment with institutional knowledge.
The event is sponsored and will be moderated by Egon Zehnder and will feature the following board leaders:
KATHLEEN HOGAN serves on the board of Alaska Airlines as chair of the nominating and governance committee and is executive vice president of strategy and transformation for Microsoft. Previously, she served as Microsoft’s chief human resources officer and as a partner at McKinsey & Co.
SALLY JEWELL serves as chair of the board of Symetra Financial Corp. and as a member of the board of Costco Wholesale Corp. Previously, she served on the board of Premera Blue Cross and was the CEO of Recreational Equipment Inc. (known as REI).
BRAD TILDEN serves on the boards of Boeing and Matson, having previously served as chair, president, and CEO of Alaska Airlines and chair of Nordstrom Inc.
Panelists will share practical insights, proven governance practices, and real-world lessons from the boardroom. Whether your organization is navigating CEO transition, director refreshment, or long-term composition strategy, this discussion will provide actionable guidance to strengthen succession planning and sustain effective oversight.
