About The Event
Earlier this week, NACD Northern California convened its NACD Directorship Certification® Virtual Cohort. Over 60 certified directors joined from across the country and around the world for a roundtable conversation on the headlines and trendlines impacting the boardroom.
We covered a variety of topics, including regulatory expansion, the risk of becoming a compliance board to the future of work, and what boards can learn from the private equity governance model. A few top themes and takeaways:
-
Now is a great time to reassess the allocation of responsibilities across committees and management to ensure the necessary coverage on the range of human capital and regulator issues coming down the pike.
-
Boards rarely regret acting too soon but often regret not acting quickly enough. Done correctly, directors shouldn’t be afraid of being more action oriented and, where appropriate, getting closer to the business.
-
The future of work has to be win-win, and boards have a key role in shaping that future and overseeing its development.
On all these topics, and many more, it’s important for board members to be able to discuss these trends with their peers and share ideas and learnings.
