Stany Vaes is currently the director sustainability and corporate affairs at Holcim Belgium. As part of the executive committee, he’s responsible for sustainability, communication, and public affairs.

Previously, Vaes managed the Belgian industry association Denuo for six years, representing private waste management and recycling companies. Prior to that, he worked for the communication agency Whyte Corporate Affairs, the retail industry association Comeos as head of regulatory affairs, and several reputable law firms (Linklaters, Liedekerke, Laurius, and Laga) as a public law specialist. He also was part of the law faculty as an assistant professor at the University of Hasselt.

Vaes holds a master of law from KULeuven and completed several post-graduate courses (copy writing, sustainability, retail management, and forensics).

He is fluent in Dutch, French, German, and English.
