Shawn is a Principal in Grant Thornton’s Risk Advisory Practice with over 30 years of Enterprise Risk Management experience including seven years with a “Big 4” firm, seven years with an industry leading global investment management firm, fifteen years with Grant Thornton, and 3 years with an economic development organization where he worked to develop strategies, mitigate risks, and secure financing for startup and expanding businesses. Shawn focuses on strategic accounts with deep experience in private equity, financial services, energy, manufacturing, technology, retail, and hospitality.
Shawn is the architect of Grant Thornton’s ERM Lite service offering, having performed numerous highly successful engagements for his clients. Shawn also focuses on establishing ERM functions, regulatory and compliance program optimization, internal audit maturity and transformation, program and project management offices, IPO readiness, and special initiative execution.
He is an accomplished speaker on the topics of advanced data analytics, system development life cycle enhancement, internal audit of the future, risk management, change management, innovation program effectiveness, strategic vendor management, internal controls automation, IPO readiness, artificial intelligence enablement, compliance program excellence, and board effectiveness.
Shawn received his Master of Accountancy & Information Systems from Brigham Young University. He is a CPA, CISA, CRP, and PMP. He is fluent in both oral and written Spanish.
