Shawn Gorman
Chairman of the Board, L.L.Bean
Shawn Gorman serves as Chairman of the Board of L.L.Bean, the Freeport-based outdoor retailer that was founded by his great-grandfather, Leon Leonwood (“L.L.”) Bean in 1912.
Shawn began his career as an advertising analyst in 1991 and moved into leadership roles early, including Manager of International Operations. As Vice President of Card Services and Direct-to-Business, he led one of the industry’s most successful co-branded credit card programs and launched L.L.Bean’s first B2B website. In his role as Senior VP of Brand Communications, Shawn unified brand messaging across all selling channels to deliver a consistent, customer-focused experience.
Outside L.L.Bean, Shawn serves as Chairman of the John T. Gorman Foundation and is the Vice Chair of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. Previously, Shawn served on the Board of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) , the University of New Hampshire Foundation, and the Brooks School in North Andover, MA. Like his great-grandfather, Shawn is an avid outdoorsman, and enjoys spending time outside – hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and cycling -- with friends and family.
