 Nate Gemelke

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Strategist; QuEra Computing

Nate Gemelke is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Strategist at QuEra Computing, where he helps define the company’s long-term technical vision, supports the development, scaling, and deployment of neutral-atom quantum computing systems and works with QueRa’s largest government agencies. QuEra is delivering practical quantum computing by integrating these systems with today’s powerful classical hardware and using AI to improve error correction. QueEra’s approach positions quantum as a real part of tomorrow’s computing stack—not distant-future technology.

Gemelke previously served as Chief Technology Officer, overseeing core hardware and software development, recruiting world-class scientists and engineers, and engaging with partners and users across industry, government, and academia.

Dr. Gemelke’s career bridges fundamental physics and applied quantum technology. Prior to QuEra, he was a Research Associate at Harvard University working on quantum information processing with neutral atoms, and an Assistant Professor of Physics at Penn State University, where his research focused on laser cooling, many-body physics, and quantum statistical mechanics.

Nate Gemelke has been recognized for his contributions to quantum computing and is the recipient of many notable awards including The Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow Award.  In addition, he has several patents in various stages of approval for his methods and inventions in this field.

He earned his PhD in Physics from Stanford University, where his research on degenerate atomic Bose gases and topological phases was advised by Nobel Laureate Steven Chu. He holds a BS in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, and Physics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Gemelke is passionate about translating cutting-edge physics into scalable quantum technologies with practical impact.
