Matt Fawcett

General Counsel, DXC Technology

Matt Fawcett is a proven enterprise-technology executive with deep expertise in strategic transformation, operating model evolution, and value creation across hardware, software, anything as a service (XaaS), and IT services businesses. With more than two decades leading teams at Fortune 500 technology companies, he brings a unique combination of strategic thinking, operational execution, and forward-looking perspectives on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

At NetApp (Nasdaq: NTAP), a more than $6 billion Fortune 500 hybrid cloud and data-management company, Fawcett most recently served as executive vice president and chief strategy officer (CSO) during the company’s transformation from an enterprise hardware company to a cloud-led, software-driven business. During his time as CSO, NetApp expanded its product suite and TAM through strategic M&A, completing more acquisitions in two years than at any point in the company’s 30-year history, while advancing software-as-a-service offerings and partnerships with leading public cloud providers. Fawcett started at NetApp in 2010 as chief legal officer, playing a pivotal role in executive team evolution (including a CEO transition), dealing with activist investors, and driving organizational transformation.

Currently, as a key member of a refreshed executive team at DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), a Fortune 500 global IT services leader with more than $13 billion in revenue and 125,000 employees globally, Fawcett continues applying his strategic and transformational expertise in a complex, services-led business environment.

Fawcett has deep experience in M&A-based strategies to accelerate growth. While at JDS Uniphase (Nasdaq: JDSU), his team drove more than 20 acquisitions and strategic transactions exceeding $60 billion in aggregate value. M&A was also foundational to NetApp’s expansion into cloud-native infrastructure management solutions.

Fawcett operates at the leading edge of enterprise AI and cybersecurity issues, understanding both strategic opportunities and governance imperatives. His breadth of experience across XaaS, hardware, software, and services business models enables him to understand value creation levers, margin dynamics, and strategic positioning across technology sectors.

Over the years, Fawcett has served on numerous nonprofit and public interest boards, including UCLA’s Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy, the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, and the advisory boards for Nasdaq, Thomson Reuters, and Orrick Innovation, among others. Named one of “America’s 50 Outstanding General Counsel” by The National Law Journal, he frequently writes and speaks on innovation, leadership, and transformation.

Fawcett received his law degree from the UCLA School of Law and a bachelor of arts from the University of California, Berkeley.
