Lieutenant General (ret.) Mary O'Brien, NADC.CD, is an independent director, board advisor, and strategic consultant, specializing in the intersection of national security and dual-use cyber, AI, and autonomous technology.
She serves as an independent director on the audit & risk committee for National Digital Trust Company (in organization) and Tharros, Inc, a Maryland-based cybersecurity company. She also gives back to the military veteran community as an Independent Director for Operation Homefront, serving on the cyber & technology and development committees.
As a board advisor, Mary serves on the Strategic Advisory Council of Ondas, the Advisory Council of Cyabra, the Advisory Board of Markon, The Cyber Guild Advisory Council, and the Senior Intelligence Advisory Board for the Defense Intelligence Memorial Fund.
Her consultancy focuses on advising innovative technology companies on strategies to expand their reach and navigate the complexities of the US public sector and federal contracting. She also provides expert guidance to organizations navigating complex challenges within volatile and uncertain global security environments, focusing on risk mitigation, technology integration, and resilience-building strategies.
Before entering the private sector, Mary served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 2023 as a Lieutenant General after 34 years of distinguished service. Her executive military career included high-level leadership roles such as the Joint Staff Director of Command, Control, Communications, and Computers/Cyber Intelligence (J6), the Director of Intelligence for U.S. Cyber Command (J2) and overseeing policy, planning, and programming of Air Force cyber and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
