Mary Copeland is President and CEO of Copeland Consulting Group, a Human Resources consulting firm founded in 2017.  Mary started the firm after serving for over 30 years in various corporate human resources roles, most recently as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Bell Partners Inc., one of the largest property management and investment companies in the country.  

Throughout her career as a human resources executive, Mary has led human resources practices to help improve and support corporate strategy and culture.  Mary works closely with organizations as a trusted advisor, driving human resources practices to meet business needs.  Her experience includes executive coaching, helping enterprises navigate complex people issues, establishing human resources infrastructure, creating frameworks to identify, recruit, and grow talent, and facilitating succession planning.

Mary is a seasoned coach, certified through the Center for Creative Leadership.  She is also an expert in multiple assessments, such as The Hogan, Strength Deployment Inventory, Change Style Indicator, and others, which help individuals and teams improve performance through greater self-awareness.

Mary is a Greensboro native.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and French from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s in business administration from The Bryan School at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Mary is a past chair of the Board of Authoracare (formerly Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro), serves on the Authoracare Foundation Board, the Board of Marsh Furniture, and the Board of Kindermusik International.  She previously served on the Board of Advisors for The Bryan School of Business, the United Way of Greater Greensboro, the Greenhill Center for North Carolina Art, The Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro Day School, and Greensboro Urban Ministry.
