Lon Cardon, Ph.D., FMedSci, is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), a major biomedical research institution dedicated to advancing human health through genetics and genomics. An internationally recognized geneticist, Dr. Cardon has spent his career at the intersection of discovery science, drug development, and precision medicine. Prior to joining JAX, he served as Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Scientific Strategy Officer at BioMarin Pharmaceutical and a Senior Vice President at GlaxoSmithKline. Earlier in his career, he was a professor at the University of Oxford and then at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His research has contributed to major advances in human genetics, including seminal discoveries of genes underlying both rare and common diseases.
