As chief operating officer and chief information security officer at Alvaka Networks, a global leader in ransomware restoration and prevention, Kevin McDonald leverages over 27 years of technology and cybersecurity expertise to safeguard businesses, critical infrastructure, and communities. For 23 years, he has driven Alvaka’s mission to deliver around-the-clock information technology solutions and cutting-edge cybersecurity, earning recognition as one of the Orange County Business Journal’s OC500 Most Influential Executives in 2023.

McDonald provides strategic guidance on ransomware remediation, enterprise security, and public policy to executives, legislators, and law enforcement. His affiliations include the FBI’s InfraGard, the Cyber Fraud Task Force of the US Secret Service’s Los Angeles Field Office, and High-Tech Crimes Investigations Association (now known as the High Technology Cyber Investigation Association). McDonald has served in leadership at CompTIA’s global cybersecurity task force and as chair of the Orange County sheriff and coroner’s and Anaheim police chief’s technology advisory councils. He also served on the Orange County Homeland Security Advisory Council and OC Shield, shaping cybersecurity for one of America’s largest counties.

A multi-award-winning advocate, McDonald champions technology innovation, children’s internet safety, and public policy reform. His work with the California State Sheriffs’ Association and national cybersecurity initiatives earned accolades for advancing critical infrastructure protection. In 2023, Alvaka’s partnership with CalMutuals JPRIMA, under his leadership, launched a groundbreaking water cybersecurity program for California’s water sector.
