Jake is currently the global co-leader of McKinsey’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, and the leader of our Practice in North America. From 2019-2023, he served as the global co-leader of McKinsey Life Sciences, and the leader of our Practice in North America. From 2014-2019, he led the global Medical Products Practice and the Chicago Office. He is based in Chicago.
Since joining the Firm in 2000, Jake has served numerous medical products companies with broad experience across corporate strategy, M&A, commercial excellence, business building, operational improvement, product launch, international growth in Asia and Europe, and digital transformation. He has worked extensively with Boards on corporate strategy topics including growth, portfolio realignment, spin-offs, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Jake’s work has taken him around the world many times over. He has done extensive work in Asia, particularly in China. He has worked across all of the key European markets on issues of strategy and growth. Jake is a frequent speaker at industry forums including AdvaMed and APACMed.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Henry obtained a B.S.E. in mechanical and biomedical engineering from Duke University. He then completed his Ph.D. at Duke University in mechanical engineering, developing expertise in control systems, aerodynamics, acoustics, and vibrations.
Jake currently serves on the Board of Visitors of the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. He also serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.
Jake and his wife Stephanie live in Winnetka, Illinois with their three daughters (Kate, Isabelle, Georgianna) and their two Bernese Mountain Dogs (Duchess, Moseley). He enjoys downhill skiing, snowshoeing, tennis, paddle ball, pickleball, golf, and wakesurfing.
