Derek May is the President of Azalea Investments, a diversified business based in Augusta, Georgia.  The company's holdings include a convention hotel, multiple commercial real estate properties, an outdoor advertising business, and other investments.

After graduating from Augusta University with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Derek joined Morris Communications, a diversified media company founded by the Morris family.  At Morris Communications, Derek held multiple leadership positions, culminating as president of Morris Publishing Group, which included twelve daily newspapers and dozens of weeklies, magazines, and digital news sites.  Derek joined Azalea Investments in 2018 after the sale of Morris Publishing Group to Gatehouse Media.
 
Azalea Investments is owned by the third-generation Morris family members, three siblings who serve as the board of directors.  In addition to the family members, the board has two advisory members. While shaping and executing business strategies, Derek and the board of directors have championed governance best practices, established clear roles and responsibilities, and cultivated a culture of proactive problem-solving.
