Catherine Sohn

Independent Director

Catherine Angell Sohn, PharmD, is a seasoned biopharma executive and independent public and private company board director with more than 30 years of leadership experience across drug development, commercialization, corporate governance, and strategic transactions. She most recently served as Senior Vice President at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and is widely recognized for her ability to bridge R&D, regulatory strategy, and commercial execution.

Dr. Sohn currently serves on the boards of Altimmune (NASDAQ: ALT), Maze Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MAZE), TangGene (private), and BioEclipse Therapeutics (private), holding key leadership roles including:

  • Chair, Compensation Committee (Altimmune, TangGene)
  • Chair, Nominating & Governance Committee (Maze Therapeutics)

She has also served on audit, R&D strategy, and transaction committees and actively advises private biotech CEOs.

Her prior board experience includes Jazz Pharmaceuticals (2012–2024), Rubius Therapeutics (2018–2023), and Dohmen Life Science Services (2012–2017), along with a range of nonprofit, academic, and civic boards.

At GSK, Dr. Sohn was SVP, Worldwide Business Development and a member of the Global Executive Committee for Consumer Healthcare, leading U.S. and global transactions. Earlier at SmithKline Beecham, she:

  • Led worldwide strategic product development in cardiovascular, metabolic, and pulmonary diseases
  • Oversaw global commercialization strategy, including the $1B global Coreg launch for heart failure
  • Founded and built the U.S. Vaccine Business, leading pre-launch planning and subsequent commercialization for the company’s first U.S. vaccine and shaping the global vaccine pipeline

She began her industry career in medical affairs after serving as an Assistant Professor at The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Sohn is an Adjunct Professor at UCSF, a member of the Science History Institute Board, and has contributed extensively to academic, entrepreneurial, and arts organizations.
