In today’s volatile threat landscape, a board’s ability to preserve digital trust can be tested in an instant. This new NACD RTC Boardroom Lab immerses directors in a high-pressure cyber crisis in which ransomware collides with a sophisticated deepfake attack, putting reputation, operations, and stakeholder confidence on the line.
Participants will navigate unfolding scenarios in real time, assess incomplete and conflicting information, and make consequential decisions under fire. Working collaboratively, directors will weigh legal, operational, and communications trade-offs as they steer an organization through a rapidly escalating digital incident.
Following the simulation, attendees will engage in a structured peer debrief and expert analysis to translate the experience into practical board-level oversight strategies. The session equips directors with actionable insights to strengthen digital resilience, enhance crisis governance, and elevate preparedness for the next generation of cyber threats.
Learning Outcomes
• Experience the pressures of real-time decision-making during a simulated ransomware and deepfake crisis
• Strengthen boardroom readiness for managing cyber, reputational, and digital-trust threats
• Evaluate how governance structures and crisis protocols perform under stress
• Identify opportunities to improve communication, escalation, and response coordination between management and the board
• Translate simulation insights into practical board oversight actions that enhance digital resilience and stakeholder trust

A First-of-Its-Kind NACD RTC Experience
This program debuts a new experiential learning format designed to move beyond traditional panels and presentations. The Boardroom Lab immerses directors directly in the decision-making process through a live, unfolding crisis environment.
Interactive, Scenario-Driven Design
Participants work in real time with fellow directors as new information surfaces, operational risks compound, and reputational stakes escalate—mirroring the velocity of a real cyber event.
Facilitated Expertise
The session is guided by crisis, cybersecurity, and governance specialists who shape the scenario and provide executive-level debriefs grounded in current threat intelligence and board oversight best practices.
Peer-to-Peer Learning
Directors collaborate in small groups to stress-test assumptions, compare response strategies, and reflect on governance implications in a confidential, judgment-free setting.
Action-Oriented Outcomes
Attendees leave with immediately applicable tools and frameworks to enhance crisis playbooks, strengthen digital trust oversight, and improve board-management coordination.
Designed for Director Readiness
This format supports the evolving expectations placed on boards—helping directors rehearse high-pressure decisions and build muscle memory before a real crisis occurs.
