Jan Tighe serves on the public company Boards of Goldman Sachs, General Motors, and the Huntsman Corporation. She is a member of the board of trustees for the MITRE Corporation, which operates federally funded research and development centers in the public interest. Tighe also serves on nonprofit boards including The Alliance for Decision Education and the United States Naval Academy Foundation.

Tighe retired from the US Navy in 2018 as a vice admiral serving as the deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare and as the 66th director of naval intelligence. Previously, she served as the commander of US Fleet Cyber Command and US 10th Fleet where she was the first woman to command a numbered Fleet.

Tighe is a 1984 graduate of the US Naval Academy and in 2001 earned a doctorate in electrical engineering and master of science in applied mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School.
