Thomas Caulfield serves as executive chairman of the GlobalFoundries board of directors and has been a board member since 2018. Previously, he served as president and CEO, leading the company's 2021 initial public offering. He joined GlobalFoundries in 2014 and oversaw semiconductor manufacturing operations, process development, and expansion initiatives.

Caulfield has more than 30 years of engineering, executive management, and operational leadership experience. Before joining GlobalFoundries, he held senior leadership positions at Soraa, Ausra, Novellus Systems, and IBM.

He currently serves on the boards of Sandisk Corp., USA Rare Earth Inc., and xLight, and previously served on the board of Western Digital Corp. He was a trustee of Union College from 2018 to 2025. In 2025, Columbia University awarded him the Thomas Egleston Medal. Caulfield holds degrees from St. Lawrence University and Columbia University, including a doctorate in materials science and engineering.
