Gary Crittenden is a private investor and public company board member. Previously, he was CEO and chair of HGGC, a middle market private equity firm. He serves on the boards of Extra Space Storage and Zions Bancorp and has previously served on the boards of Staples, Primerica, and the TJX Companies.

Prior to joining HGGC, Crittenden was chief financial officer (CFO) of Citigroup from 2007 to 2009, where he was responsible for the financial management of the firm during the financial crisis. He was also CFO of American Express Co. from 2000 to 2007, prior to which he was CFO of Monsanto, Sears Roebuck and Co., Melville Corp., and Filene’s Basement. On two separate occasions, readers of Institutional Investor Magazine named Crittenden one of the “best CFOs in America.”
