Gorelick is one of the best-known lawyers in the country. Over a 25-year period, she has served on the boards of five public companies and is currently lead independent director of Amazon and chair of the governance and nominating committee of the Verisign board. She regularly counsels boards and companies on governance issues and is sought out to handle the most complex crises. Her career has involved multiple turns in government service, including as deputy attorney general, general counsel of the Department of Defense, assistant to the Secretary of Energy, and commissioner on the 9/11 Commission, among other roles. She chaired the board of the Urban Institute for a decade, was a member of Harvard’s Board of Overseers, and was a founder of the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.
