What’s one thing you’re learning right now — professionally or personally?

Professionally, I am learning about AI and applying its use cases in my role as CIO and Board Director.

In your view, what makes a truly effective board member?

Board members must keep abreast of emerging technologies such as AI to provide relevant oversight and support to management. While boards have a fiduciary responsibility to the company's stakeholders, they also need to keep in mind how their decisions impact future generations.

Beach, mountains, city, or countryside — what’s your ideal getaway?

1) Anywhere with my wife and daughters. 2) Golf with family, co-workers, and friends.

What’s a small daily habit that makes a big difference for you?

I am working on beginning my day with a prayer (like my wife) as opposed to looking at my phone and/or watching the news.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

If things are going well, enjoy it while it lasts. If not, don't worry, as this too shall pass.

In your experience, what differentiates great board chairs?

Ensuring that the board is not getting into the weeds while facilitating healthy dialogue with management.

If you had an extra free hour every day, how would you spend it?

I would split the hour between self-learning and spending time with my family.

What’s the most unforgettable trip or experience you’ve ever had?

A toss between attending The Masters golf event with my family and a family trip to Maui.
