Technical Director, CERT Division Threat Analysis Directorship

Lauren McIlvenny is the technical director of the CERT Division Threat Analysis Directorate within the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (CMU SEI) and the director of the Artificial Intelligence Security Incident Response Team (AISIRT). She leads a diverse team of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) analysts, engineers, and researchers whose work spans the AI security, malicious code analysis, vulnerability analysis, and threat intelligence domains with a focus on continually evolving these critical capabilities. McIlvenny was previously a senior data scientist and supervisor at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. As the principal investigator on several direct-funded projects and internal research and development initiatives, she applied data science techniques to national security efforts to counter asymmetric threats. Specifically, she focused on developing advanced analytics against unstructured text to accelerate the detection and even prediction of asymmetric threat activities.
