Donna Wells

Donna Wells is a respected board leader known for her strategic insight, high-impact committee leadership, and collaborative approach to complex governance challenges. Over more than 15 years of board service, she has navigated activist campaigns, transformative M&A, and CEO and board successions—while strengthening risk oversight, championing innovation, and advancing long-term shareholder value.
Wells has served on eight boards across public and private companies. She currently serves as an independent director of Walker & Dunlop, Mitek Systems, and Betterment. She has chaired public-company audit/risk and nominating/governance committees and has led and advised on the recruitment of more than 20 directors across her board roles. She has also led multi-year board-refreshment initiatives to help ensure board composition remains aligned with company strategy, risk profile, and long-term shareholder value goals amid dynamic macroeconomic, competitive, and technological environments.
Her operating background spans both large enterprises and high-growth innovators. Wells was CEO of Mindflash Technologies, leading the company from SaaS product launch to market leadership and acquisition. Earlier, as founding CMO of Mint.com, she designed and led a breakthrough growth strategy that supported the company’s acquisition by Intuit. She previously held senior executive roles at American Express and Charles Schwab and led U.S. marketing for Intuit and Expedia.
Wells was appointed Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2019. She earned NACD Directorship and Cyber-Risk Oversight Certifications in 2021 and 2024, respectively. She was named to the NACD Directorship® 100 and the Board Chairs Roundtable in 2025 and recognized as Board Director of the Year by Women in Information Technology for her impact on governance effectiveness and board-leader development.
