Story is the retired president and CEO of American Water and past president and CEO of Southern Company Services and Gulf Power Co. and past executive vice president of engineering and construction services at Southern Co.

Story serves on the boards of S&P 500 companies, including Dominion Energy, where she is lead independent director; a member of the compensation and talent development and the safety, technology, nuclear, and operations committees; and former chair of the nominating, governance, and sustainability committee. She is also a director of Carrier Global Corp., where she serves on the compensation and the audit committees.

Previous board service includes Raymond James Financial (lead independent director and compensation and nominating and governance committees), and Newmont Corp. (compensation and leadership development and audit committees). She was American Water’s executive director.

Story is a member of the Moffitt Cancer Center board of advisors; Auburn University’s 100+ Women Strong Foundation; Council of CEOs; Pensacola Bay Area Impact 100; and The Florida Council of 100 (cochair of the water policy committee).ee).
