Carney serves as the chancellor of the University of Technology in Jamaica. He is CEO of Carney Global Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm. He was CEO of publicly listed Brocade Communications Systems, which was acquired by Broadcom Corp., and Micromuse Inc., which was acquired by IBM Corp. He was also CEO of Xsigo Systems, a privately held company acquired by Oracle Corp. Carney was CEO of Chaserg Technology Acquisition Corp., which took Grid Dynamics public; Carney is currently chair of Grid Dynamics’ board.

Carney chairs the compensation committee of Visa Corp. and the governance committee for Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

He also serves on the board of his alma mater, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and is an advisor to University of California San Francisco Health and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula.
