About The Event
One of the board’s key roles is to develop and maintain a succession plan for the CEO position. However, research by NACD shows that many boards do not engage in this process proactively or frequently enough and find themselves scrambling in the wake of a crisis or sudden CEO departure.
High-performing boards create plans and pathways to develop and consider internal talent, look at external talent, and include a plan to ensure a smooth transition.
At this breakfast meeting, we’ll leverage pre-reads, small group conversations, and large group discussions to explore how boards can create successful succession plans to facilitate smooth leadership transitions.
Key discussion questions:
- What is the board’s responsibility in creating a succession plan and what should it include?
- What qualities should the board consider when looking for the new CEO?
- What is the right strategy and process to find a new CEO and set them up for success?
- What are the different considerations for public and private company boards, including family businesses?
Note: Pre-reads and additional details will be sent following registration.
