In this interactive and participatory session, our group will be guided through a tabletop exercise by an experienced data breach response lawyer from chapter sponsor Cooley. The exercise will involve a data breach scenario based on real-life data breaches and designed to challenge the our problem-solving skills. We will split into groups representing typical incident response stakeholders: legal, forensic, communications, risk/senior management and the board of directors. Each stakeholder team will be guided by a relevant professional in each category. There will be twists and turns, as in actual breaches, that will provide a front row seat as to what really happens with a breach. This context is crucial for directors who will inevitably be involved in incident materiality assessments and 8-K and 10-K reporting decisions. Not to be missed – this is the same type of exercise that thousands of organizations undertake each year.
There are a limited number of seats available for this session.
Learning Outcomes

Understand Stakeholder Roles: Identify and describe the key responsibilities and contributions of each stakeholder group (legal, forensic, communications, risk/senior management, and the board of directors) during a data breach incident.
-
Apply Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate the ability to collaboratively address and resolve challenges presented in a simulated data breach scenario by applying problem-solving and critical thinking skills relevant to each stakeholder's role.
-
Navigate Real-Life Breach Dynamics: Recognize and adapt to the unpredictable elements and complexities of a data breach through interactive engagement with real-world scenarios, enhancing the ability to manage similar situations effectively in practice.
